Krista serves as the Training & Resource Manager at Every Mother’s Advocate (ĒMA), where she designs and develops training materials and resources that equip staff, Advocates, and Affiliates to serve mothers with confidence and consistency. From in-person trainings and online courses to manuals and videos, Krista creates tools that are clear, engaging, and practical so teams can focus on building meaningful relationships with the moms they serve.
A typical day might include developing new training content, refining resources, or collaborating with teammates to ensure ĒMA’s values and processes are reflected throughout the organization. “I want our amazing ĒMA network of staff and volunteers to feel very prepared in their understanding and application of the ĒMA values and process so that when they are working with moms, their focus can be on their relationship with her.”
Krista joined ĒMA after years of working in foster care and adoption advocacy, where she witnessed the lasting impact family separation can have on children and parents. She was drawn to ĒMA’s prevention-first approach. “Having worked in foster care and adoption advocacy for quite some time, I was ready to go further upstream and stop family separation before it starts. I’ve seen firsthand the lifetime of hurt that separation causes children and families. ĒMA is a first responder for moms in crisis, not by chance, but through intentional relationships wrapped in thoughtful research, redemptive design, innovation, and collaboration.”
One of the moments that continually reaffirms Krista’s work is hearing children share what they think about their moms. “There’s nothing more fulfilling and healing than seeing a mom become the hero in her child’s story!”
Known on the team for her kindness, honesty, and care, Krista keeps creativity flowing with coffee, music, and swapping GIFs and emojis with her teammates.
