Laura serves as the Advocate Engagement Manager at Every Mother’s Advocate (ĒMA), where she focuses on building relationships and inviting community members to walk alongside mothers in crisis. From connecting with local leaders and churches to guiding individuals on how to become Advocates, Laura helps grow the network of people committed to ensuring that no mother has to face hardship alone.
A typical day might include meeting with potential Advocates, sharing the vision of ĒMA with community partners, or helping individuals discern how they can step into meaningful roles of support. “I was raised on the belief that it takes a village to raise a child,” Laura shares. “Helping identify and connect those villagers is what gives my work meaning.”
Laura chose to work at ĒMA because the mission calls her to serve something greater than herself. “Where I once approached work with the mindset of what can I gain, this role has reshaped that question into how can I serve those in need,” she says. “I want to leave this world having poured out what I was given.”
One moment that reaffirmed Laura’s work came early in her time at ĒMA while watching a Mother’s Day video where children described their moms. When one child called his mother a “superhero,” it stayed with her. “If I can help even one child see their mom that way – strong, capable, and resilient – then this work matters”
For Laura, staying energized in the work comes from keeping the focus outward. “Focusing on others lets my energy flow and reminds me why I do this work.”
